Harry Reid: Of “Pets” and “Hottest Members”

A special edition by Jarrod Agen, Communications Director, Sharron Angle campaign:

Not a good start to the work week for the Senator Reid. News broke yesterday that Harry is creating special earmarks for his high dollar donors. As the LVRJ reports, thousands of dollars from the owner of Arcata Associates to Harry's campaign resulted in Reid earmarking millions back to company.

The most shocking part:

“The most recent earmark came after the Army said it was no long seeking money for the defense project.” (Las Vegas Review Journal, Steve Tetreault “Reid criticized for earmark for LV firm” 9/20/10)

Back at home, on top of 14th straight month of record unemployment, news was equally bad for the housing market.

“Home sales and median prices showed no signs of improvement in August, Las Vegas-based Home Builders Research reported Monday. There were 401 new-home sales during the month, compared with 426 in the same month a year ago. Resale transactions fell to 3,313 from 3,833 a year ago.” (Las Vegas Review Journal, Hubble Smith “Housing market not showing signs of improving” 9/20/10)

Surely, things would be better for Harry while he was hanging out on the Upper East Side of Manhattan yesterday. Let’s take a look at how that went:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had an unusual form of praise for New York's junior senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, this morning at the fundraiser Mayor Bloomberg hosted for him at his townhouse - referring to her as "the hottest member" as she sat just a few feet away, according to three sources.

The comment prompted Gillibrand to turn red, according to the sources, and created a bit of stir among the small crowd there.

"It was pretty shocking when he said it," said one source familiar with the remark and the reaction.
(Politico, Maggie Haberman “Reid calls Gillibrand the 'hottest' member at fundraiser” 9/20/10 )

Okay! Well, I guess that didn’t go so well either. But Senator Gillibrand, at least Harry didn’t call you his “pet”.

Sharron Angle RE: Scientology

This article is also posted at my sister blog: http://moveonreid.wordpress.com/.

The liberals at Huffing and Puffington Post are floating this story on Sharron Angle and Scientology (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/10/sharron-angle-scientology_n_607690.html), and implying that Sharron is a Scientologist herself or has some weird connection to it.

The fact is that Sharron is a Christian, not only which I know from personal experience (and I’ve known her for 15 years), but which was also reported in depth in the following article: http://www.lvrj.com/news/gop-senate-hopeful-sharron-angle-is-counting-on-conservative-credentials-88756137.html.

This “controversy” surrounds the Second Chance program, a program for helping incarcerated substance abusers. The facts on it can be found at: http://www.articlealley.com/article_131655_18.html.
The Second Chance Program was a success in New Mexico in 2007.  "For the first time, we're actually diverting serious substance abusers from jails and prisons into a facility that gives them what they need to turn their lives around," [said] [Joy] Westrum (President of the Second Chance Program). "Since the cost is equal to or less than what the state would spend to house the inmates, everyone wins. With the low recidivism rate, taxpayers don't have to foot the bill for future incarcerations, and the prisoners have been trained and empowered to lead successful and rewarding lives."

Notice that the article mentions now deceased L. Ron Hubbard as follows, “The protocol utilized in the Second Chance Program is based on discoveries by L. Ron Hubbard in the fields of drug and criminal rehabilitation.” Scientology is not part of the program nor is it mentioned, but it is a cutting edge program that works.

It is a fact that Angle did not promote the Second Chance program in 2003 - only the option to explore its potential. The trip she took was a privately funded, and took place on a non-legislative working day. Legislators were invited to come on a voluntary basis, as reported in the Reno Gazette Journal in February 2003.

She did not propose legislation. No, Huffing and Puffington Post, she did not "propose a bill which was defeated". The facts on the supposed legislation are at http://www.leg.state.nv.us/72nd/BDRList/fullBDR.cfm. Click on the link and look at the 2003 legislative session. You will find that there was never a bill requested by Angle for any prison drug rehab program, there was never any appropriation requested by Angle.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if political discourse could be based in reality, truth, policy, and ideas, instead of fabricated allegations?  Wouldn't it be wonderful if liberal journalist at media outlets like "The Huffington Post" checked their facts before they published them?

Sharron Angle: Re: Gulf Spill

This article is also posted at my sister blog: http://moveonreid.wordpress.com/.

The liberals at the “Washington Post” are already picking on Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/):

“Dems are gearing up to paint Sharron Angle, the ultra-conservative candidate who's now taking on Harry Reid, as another Rand Paul and possibly even further to his right.

“And here's another data point: Angle said in a recent interview that the Gulf spill was an ‘accident’ and opined that we need to further "deregulate" the oil industry in the wake of the disaster.

“Here's the exchange, from a Nevada Newsmakers interview on May 26th, more than a month into the spill crisis:

“QUESTION: You have been in support of onshore drilling in the United States as well as offshore drilling, are you rethinking that policy with what is going on in Louisiana?

“ANGLE: No. I think that what happened in Louisiana was an accident. They're cleaning it up. We need to go forward and talk about prevention and not about whether we keep it out all together. We know that lot of the problems that have been caused for us with foreign policy and even with our own gas prices here domestically going up is our dependence upon foreign oil.
We have oil reserves and petroleum reserves that we should tap into. And that's a policy that we really need to look at as a nation. How do we deregulate enough to invite our industries to come back into the United States and quit outsourcing their business?”

From: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/plum-line/2010/06/sharron_angle_in_wake_of_gulf.html

What about this statement is controversial? What happened in Louisiana WAS an accident. And it was brought about by liberal policies that strangle businesses - like oil companies - and in this specific case prevented them from drilling where it is SAFE to drill. Instead they are forced to drill miles and miles from shore, instead of in our own mainland reserves (e.g. Alaska).

We need to “deregulate Big Oil”? You’re darn right.

Jim DeMint Endorses Sharron Angle

From an e-mail from Senate Conservatives:

“Dear Fellow Conservatives:

Last night, Assemblywoman Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine) won another upset victory for conservatives in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in Nevada. The battle lines have now been drawn in the most important race in the nation. This November, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid -- the most powerful liberal in Congress - will face Nevada Assemblywoman Sharron Angle -- one of the strongest conservative voices in the country.Harry Reid is a liberal Democrat who has led the effort to pass President Obama's radical agenda and used special backroom deals like the Cornhusker Kickback to buy votes for government takeovers and runaway spending.Sharron Angle is a conservative warrior who has fought endless battles against taxes, spending, and liberals in both parties in the Nevada Assembly.

Sharron Angle is a former teacher, not a career politician. She first made a name for herself by fighting her own party on an attempted $800 million tax hike -- a battle that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. As the proud grandmother of ten, Sharron Angle wants to do everything in her power to ensure America's next generation is not forced to pay the bill for the gross misconduct of today's elected leaders.Nobody thought she could defeat her Washington-backed opponent in the Republican primary but she did because of her uncompromising support for conservative principles. If Sharron Angle defeats Harry Reid in November, it will trigger a political earthquake that will shake Washington to its core. Nothing would do more to stop President Obama and his radical agenda than defeating Harry Reid. But winning this conservative victory will be the most difficult of them all. Harry Reid has a $9 million war chest and will use very penny of it - along with millions from liberal interest groups - to smear Sharron Angle. Make no mistake: Harry Reid will do whatever it takes to hold on to power.Sharron Angle is ready to fight and win. The question is: Are you?

This is a contest between two very different candidates.Harry Reid voted for the Wall Street bailout. Sharron Angle opposed it.

Harry Reid voted for government-run health care. Sharron Angle says no.Harry Reid voted for trillions in deficit spending and supported pork barrel projects like the Bridge to Nowhere.

Sharron Angle supports a balanced budget amendment and will fight to end the earmark favor factory. The choice is clear, but only if we make it clear for every voter in Nevada. And we don't have much time.Harry Reid and his allies will begin attacking Sharron Angle immediately and we must respond or our chance at conservative victory could be lost.

The Senate Conservatives Fund is endorsing Sharron Angle today because she's a true conservative, not a rubber-stamp Republican. As you know, being a Republican is not enough these days. In order to receive the support of the Senate Conservatives Fund, candidates must demonstrate a core commitment to our nation's founding principles and a willingness to stand up to their own party when it's wrong. So far this year, the Senate Conservatives Fund has been on front lines in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Kentucky - successfully helping Pat Toomey, Marco Rubio, and Rand Paul win their primary elections.

Now we're turning our sights to Nevada. This is the race we've all be waiting for - a chance to send a message loud and clear that Americans have had enough. This race, more than any other, will determine the future of our country.

Sharron Angle's victory in the Republican primary in Nevada has not only given us a chance to send a true warrior for freedom to the Senate, it has given us the opportunity to defeat the most powerful liberal in Congress. Imagine replacing Harry Reid with a no-nonsense, outspoken conservative who will not rest until government is cut back to size and our economy is once again free to grow and prosper. It can be done if we act now. Please make your most generous donation to Sharron Angle's campaign today so we can defeat Harry Reid and make 2010 the year of the Conservative Comeback. Thank you for supporting the principles of freedom that are the backbone of America. Together, we will take back our country.

Respectfully,

Jim DeMint

United States SenatorChairman, Senate Conservatives Fund

P.S. The Nevada Senate race is the most important election in the country this year. It's a contest between Harry Reid - the most powerful liberal in Congress - and Sharron Angle - one of the strongest conservative voices in America. Please make a contribution to Sharron Angle's campaign today so we win this race and take back our country.”

Sharron Angle Wins GOP Primary…by 14 POINTS!

Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/) won yesterday’s GOP primary in a landslide, with 40% of the vote!

The next competitor, Sue Lowden, won only 26% of the vote; Danny Tarkanian won 23%.

Now, according to Politico, “Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is prepared to run a sharply negative campaign if that’s what it takes to win reelection next year, with a top adviser predicting that the Nevada Democrat will ‘vaporize’ his Republican challengers with attack ads.”

As Sharron said, “Harry Reid has zero chance to win this race if he has to talk about the issues or about his radical liberal record. His only chance is to destroy me with negative, dishonest, personal attacks. Reid and the liberal attack machine, aided by their friends in the “main stream media” are going to do everything they can to tear me apart. Make no mistake, they are coming at me with guns blazing. And I’m not talking about a month from now, or a week from now—I’m talking about tomorrow. We know their playbook: they are going to try to tear me down the same way that they did Rand Paul just a few weeks ago.”

Well, I have a message for Harry Reid: That strategy didn’t work so well for Sue Lowden. The people of Nevada are smarter than that.

And we agree with Rand Paul: “[We] have a message from the tea party. A message that is loud and clear and does not mince words. We've come to take our government back.”

Still think she should drop out, Fox and Friends? How do you like her now, Susan B. Anthony list?

No, Tea Party Nation, Danny Tarkanian is NOT Conservative

In an article in The Atlantic, The Tea Party Nation is quoted as follows:

“In Nevada, Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine) is not the only conservative candidate running in this race. Danny Tarkanian is every bit a conservative and constitutional patriot. We can no longer stand aside and let misinformation about the Nevada race go uncontested. It's up to the voters in Nevada to decide whom they deem their best representative.”

See: http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2010/06/not-all-tea-partiers-support-sharron-angle/57793/

Danny Tarkanian was endorsed by the Brady Campaign in 2006, who said Tarkanian “supports common sense gun laws like a ban on military style assault weapons“. (Of course we all know that “military style assault weapons” can mean hunting rifles to the Brady Campaign, but I digress…). See the Brady Campaign’s endorsement at: http://goapvf.org/brady-endorsement-of-tarkanian-in-2006.htm

No, Tea Party Nation, he is NOT “every bit a conservative and constitutional patriot” if he was really endorsed by the Brady Campaign. (He has told people that this endorsement was fabricated by political opponents). BUT, he did give $950 to Democrat Shelley Berkley in 1998. Further, he has no legislative experience. If he wants to PROVE he is conservative, he needs to run for a state-level office first.

Sharron Angle has a proven conservative record, has served 4 terms as a Nevada Assemblywoman, and even sued the governor with personal funds to defend Nevada's constitutional 2/3 majority requirement to raise taxes.

Lowden in desperation mode: questions Sharron Angle’s ‘Winnemucca Years’

This was reported in the Las Vegas Review Journal today:

“…In what might be the most unusual campaign charge so far in the hotly contested race, Sue Lowden -- the former GOP front-runner who is fighting to regain the lead -- raised questions last week about whether Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine) ever taught at the [Winnemucca] Christian school, and even whether it existed.”

“…Lowden sent a fundraising missive to supporters titled, ‘The Missing Winnemucca Years.’”

“In it, she quotes an anonymous supporter and ‘volunteer investigator’ who tries to debunk Angle's claim on her website that she ‘co-founded, administrated, and taught grades K-12 in a one-room Christian school of 24 students for two years.’”

WOW, are you desperate, Sue Lowden! THIS is the best you can come up with?

“Two dozen years ago, Glenda Haley taught children at a one-room Christian school in a converted classroom at the Word of Light church in Winnemucca.

“‘We had 'em from, I think, 5 or 6 years old. I remember I taught the pastor's son to read,’ Haley said. ‘We had all the grades and the subjects: English, history, science.’”

Her husband “Ted…said he helped convert a room in the church into a classroom for the students.”

“‘My wife was the principal of the school and one of the co-teachers,’ Ted Angle said, adding he used to watch the children during lunch recess. ‘It was an unpaid job and I served in an unpaid capacity on the board of trustees. We actually graduated one of the kids, but it closed after two years.’

“According to the Angle campaign, the church didn't need any license to run the school, partly because the law is more lax when it comes to religious schools. But the home school-style program that allowed students to study at their own pace and be tested on the textbook material was accredited, according to Haley, who said she had taught at such a program in Idaho before Nevada.

“‘Sharron did not imagine that she taught there,’ said Larry Hart, a spokesman for her campaign who has worked for years in Washington. ‘I've seen a lot of charges, but I've never seen one like this. It's not like she's making something up about serving in Vietnam. This is not a claim of great fame or fortune, teaching in a church school. I don't think you need to make something like that up (emphasis mine).’”

Sharron Angle leads GOP field by 8% in new poll; beats Harry Reid in November…

while Sue Lowden loses the matchup.

A new Mason Dixon poll shows Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/index-main.html) leading the GOP primary by 8 points (with 32% of the primary vote). Tarkanian and Lowden trail with 24 and 23%, respectively.

The poll also shows Sharron Angle beating Harry Reid in the general election with 44% (Angle) vs. 41% (Reid), while Sue Lowden loses the match up 41 (Lowden) to 42% (Reid) (see: http://davidwissing.com/?p=12320 and http://www.sharronangle.com/pdf/PR%2006-06-10%20draft%202.pdf).

Well, silly liberals and RINOs, I thought principled conservatives like Sharron Angle are too “right wing” to win general elections. And how do you like her now, Fox and Friends, and Susan B. Anthony list?

FreedomWorks PAC Endorses Sharron Angle

"FreedomWorks PAC and Chairman Dick Armey have today announced their endorsement for Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine) which will include a Get Out the Vote effort via their 4,400+ Nevada members. Here’s the press release:

'Washington, DC – Today, FreedomWorks PAC announced its latest “Champion of Freedom” endorsement as part of the Take America Back in 2010 campaign.

'Sharron Angle, a Republican candidate running for the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid, has won the endorsement because of her firm commitment to a strict, limited government, fiscally conservative agenda. Her record as a Nevada State Assemblywoman demonstrates she will not drift from these fundamental free market principles.

'Angle routinely helped lead fights in the Nevada Assembly against big government power grabs during her tenure from 1999 to 2005. Most notably, in 2003 she was instrumental in putting the breaks on an $800 million statewide tax hike. Angle fought this big government boondoggle all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, ultimately ensuring its demise.

'FreedomWorks PAC will support Angle in her election bid through an intense Get Out The Vote (GOTV) program that its 4,455 members in Nevada will lead. The primary elements of this campaign will include door-to-door literature drops, phone banks, and yard sign distribution.'"

Sharron Angle's conservative endorsements just keep rolling in!  Like she says, "a tsunami of conservatism is sweeping this nation."

Right on, FreedomWorks! Right on, Sharron Angle!  Right on!

BREAKING NEWS: Washington Times Reports Sharron Angle now leading in polls

“Buoyed by endorsement from top conservatives, Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine) has jumped into the lead among Republicans vying in Tuesday's primary for the right to face off against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid this fall, according to a poll released Thursday.

“Endorsed by the Tea Party Express and the Club for Growth among others, Mrs. Angle, a former state assemblywoman with a conservative voting record, now leads former Nevada Republican Party Chairman Sue Lowden, according to David Paleologos, who conducted the poll for the Suffolk University Political Research Center.

“…It was understandable that the political world from Las Vegas to New York City was abuzz on Wednesday with rumors that Mrs. Angle had leaped ahead of Mrs. Lowden -- long before the Suffolk poll's release.

“…Mrs. Angle successfully blocked the governor's proposed $800 million tax increase beginning in 2003 and eventually took the issue all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court -- and won.

“The new poll shows Mrs. Angle at 33 percent, followed by Las Vegas businessman Danny Tarkanian at 26 percent and former Mrs. Lowden, a former Nevada state senator, with 25 percent. Several other GOP primary candidates came in at 4 percent or less.

REAL Conservatism is in the ascendency, and the people of Nevada know it!

And - Ms. Lowden - your lying attack ads against Sharron Angle are FAILING! The people of Nevada know you are lying!

Wall Street Journal: Sharron Angle could ignite strong Republican turnout

"…Reid could be getting the match-up he wants [in Sharron Angle]," said David Damore, a UNLV political-science professor. "This is his dream."

“But several people close to the Reid camp say they have begun to question that assumption because Ms. Angle's (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine) grass-roots approach could ignite a strong Republican turnout, especially in a state with a tradition of support for limited government, they say. Also, they say they have been surprised to see Ms. Lowden make the missteps that Democrats were able to capitalize on with chicken costumes.

"Up until few weeks ago, I would have told you 100% without a doubt we prefer Sharron Angle," said a person close to the Reid campaign. Now, although Ms. Lowden still appears the stronger challenger, that calculation has become somewhat more uncertain, he said.

“…So far, Ms. Angle has been running a bare-bones operation. Her campaign has just three paid staffers who partly work out of her Reno house, her campaign spokesman said. Ms. Lowden's paid campaign staff includes around a dozen people, including six field operators and three people involved in finance, her campaign spokesman said.

How’s that for REAL fiscal conservatism? Sharron Angle walks the talk.

“…In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, she said she was proud of her lone "No" votes in the state assembly, such as on a 2005 bill to cap property-tax increases at 3% a year for residential owners and 8% a year for commercial owners. Ms. Angle said she thought the structure was unconstitutional (emphasis mine). "No one would challenge it because of the benefits that they perceived they were getting," Ms. Angle said. "For me the end doesn't justify the means."

“She also maintains her privatization stance.

“Mr. Weber, the GOP strategist, said her positions might not be as extreme as her critics might think in the current political climate. ”I think there is a real antispending mood right now in the country that makes ideas that might have seemed out of the mainstream a few years ago more acceptable," he said.

“…"I think she is a divisive person," said Mr. Raggio, who backs Ms. Lowden. "She would vote 'No' to everything. If everybody did that, nothing would get done in a legislative body."

And Mr. Raggio, that might not be such a bad thing.

“Ms. Angle said she doesn't mind being branded as someone who is unwilling to work toward compromises with people of different views. "I don't think that we're elected to be popular," she said. "That kind of thing went out with high school. We are elected to do the right thing, to keep our oath of office, and to uphold and defend the Constitution (emphasis mine)."

“…Meanwhile, the Lowden campaign continues to stumble. In an interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal, Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, a Republican, called her "Suicidal Sue" after the chicken statement and her response to criticisms of it, as well as other campaign bungles.

See: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703630304575271551970063286.html?mod=rss_whats_news_us

Even “The Atlantic” thinks Lowden has run an “atrocious” campaign:

“Remember, it's one of the two "mainstream" Republican candidates in the race, Sue Lowden, who had problems explaining how the state's residents could barter for their health care. Lowden may pull off a win next week, but she's run a fairly atrocious campaign (emphasis mine), one that a competent Democrat could exploit with ease.”

Sharron Angle picks up momentum against Sue Lowden (Harry Reid-lite)

From KOH news in Nevada:

“Sharron Angle's campaign (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine) continues to pick up momentum as the campaign heads into the home stretch. She's launched a new campaign ad. Campaign cash is flowing toward Angle's campaign from various national groups, including the Club for Growth, and Tea Party Express.”

For your information Sue Lowden, “The Club for Growth” and “Tea Party Express” are NOT “Washington Special Interests”, as you suggested in one of your recent ads. These are grass routes PACs and have nothing to do with Washington. In fact, Washington wishes they would go away.

Continuing from KOH news:

“Sue Lowden's campaign manager is in ‘Full damage control mode (emphasis mine)’ as she struggles to be taken seriously, after numerous campaign gaffes. Robert Uithoven is firing back at Irma Aguirre, who says Lowden’s term as state GOP Chair ‘Tanked the Republican Party.’ Robert Uithoven even took a cheap shot at the former state party finance chair's private life. He also lashed out at Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, a Lowden supporter, who has labeled Lowden ‘Suicidal Sue’ for her numerous campaign flubs. In a combative interview on Nevada Newsmakers he also attacked Sharron Angle's record, trying to portray her as ‘Not a real conservative’ and calling her ‘the state's worst lawmaker during her term in the assembly.’”

Who’s “not a real conservative”? Here’s some illuminating information from Accountable America:

“Nevada politician Sue Lowden's casino corporation received a $29 million line of credit from her failed bank - a bank that was bailed out by U.S. and Nevada taxpayers…

“Sue and her husband Paul Lowden are top executives at Archon Corporation, a casino holding company. Paul Lowden is the President and CEO. Sue Lowden is the Executive Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Director of Archon…Sue Lowden was a founding member of the Commercial Bank of Nevada, which was acquired by Colonial Bank in 1998. She sat on the Board of Directors of Colonial Bank of Nevada until June 2009. While Colonial Bank was set to receive a $550 million bailout thanks to TARP, the bank failed before it received the funds. Soon after it failed, it was taken over by BB&T which received over $3.1 billion in taxpayer bailouts thanks to TARP. One day after BB&T took control over Colonial Bank, on August 18, 2009, it extended to the Lowden's casino company, Archon, a $29 million line of credit.”

See: http://www.accountableamerica.com/node/1500

Well, that explains why she won’t denounce bailouts…She is just more of the same. She and her husband have made 29 donations to various democrats including Harry Reid, and the DNC (see: http://www.opensecrets.org, and search Lowden in Nevada). She is Harry Reid-lite or worse and Nevadans know it.

She hasn’t won a single GOP straw poll, while Sharron Angle has won every one.

The fact is, Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/) can and will beat Harry Reid, but first she will beat Harry Reid-lite in Sue Lowden.

Sue Lowden's campaign in "Full Damage Control Mode"

RedState’s Erick Erickson endorses Sharron Angle: Will Jim DeMint be next?

“Former Assemblywoman Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine) continued to show momentum by winning the endorsement of the Club for Growth, a conservative group that often opens deep pockets to its favored candidates…

Erick Erickson, RedState blogger and conservative CNN commentator, switched his endorsement from Danny Tarkanian, the former UNLV basketball star, to Angle, saying she is the most viable conservative alternative to front-runner Sue Lowden.”

See: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/may/20/gop-senate-race-tightens-turns-testy/

Senator Jim DeMint’s endorsements sometimes follow Erickson’s, according to Matt Lewis:

“But Erickson says it's only logical that he and DeMint would often come down on the same side in many races: "I think [DeMint] is more plugged into the grassroots than any of the other guys in Washington," he says. Erickson has also encouraged his readers to donate to endorsed candidates via DeMint's PAC.

Erickson implied to me -- and based on the chronological order of the endorsements, this rings true -- that DeMint may be taking his cues from RedState's endorsements, not the other way around.”

Harry Reid wants to run against Sharron Angle

(Mark Levin: Why Liberals Want to Run Against Principled Conservatives--Then They Lose)

Right on, right on, Mark Levin!

“I think that I have the mainstream record,” said Angle (see http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine), running in a tough GOP primary to take on Democratic Sen. Harry Reid, in an interview with The Daily Caller. “I think the silent majority, which is really represented by this Tea Party movement, has begun to speak (emphasis mine).” (from Daily Caller Article at http://dailycaller.com/2010/05/25/an-interview-with-nevada-candidate-sharron-angle-i’m-mainstream/)

You're darn right.

Fact check: Sharron Angle voted for pay increases, crazy scientology program, Sue Lowden?

A new poll shows Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/) in the lead in the Nevada Republican primary: Angle is at 29%, Lowden at 26%, and Tarkanian at 24%, followed by state Rep. Chad Christensen and businessman John Chachas at 5% each. The poll of likely GOP primary voters has a ±3.8% margin of error. (See: http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/sharron-angle/).

Lowden is noticing, as she is running attack ads. She says Sharron “voted twice to raise her pay raise.”

The whole story is at: http://www.kolotv.com/home/headlines/94787619.html:

“In 2001 Angle voted for AB606 which would have increased lawmakers' pay from $130 to $175 dollars a day. The bill passed 36 to 4 in the Assembly and died in the Senate. To be fair, any lawmaker would have had to run again and be elected to receive the raise, so it could be argued no one voting was directly raising their salary (emphasis mine).

In 2005 Angle voted to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot clearing the way for lawmakers to be paid for all 120 days of a session. Currently the pay stops after 60 days.

But on this point we'll have to say the ad's script is a misleading. The vote was not to raise anyone's salary. It was to put the question before the voters (which is what Sharron always did, given the opportunity, comment and emphasis mine).

The vote in the Assembly was unanimous. In the Senate, the only no votes came from 5 Democrats.

In any case the voters rejected the change.”

Lowden’s ad also claims that Sharron “pushed a bill favored by the Church of Scientology using tax dollars to give massages to prisoners”.

I’ve already posted about this, and here’s a summary:

This “controversy” surrounds the Second Chance program, a program for helping incarcerated substance abusers and reducing the recidivism rate. The facts on it can be found at: http://www.articlealley.com/article_131655_18.html.

She did not propose legislation on the Second Chance program, or anything related to it.  See for yourself.  The 2003 legislative record can be found at: http://www.leg.state.nv.us/72nd/BDRList/fullBDR.cfm.

Furthermore, Sharron is a conservative Christian.

She has voted against over 100 tax increases. She even used her personal funds to defend Nevada’s constitutional 2/3 vote requirement to raise taxes, and the case was taken all the way to the US Supreme Court. As a result of the lawsuit (Angle vs. Guinn), the seven member Nevada Supreme Court was replaced through election defeat or retirement. The new court reversed the decision in 2007 restoring the Nevada Constitutional 2/3 provision. For her efforts, Sharron Angle received the Ronald Reagan Freedom Medallion for Courageous Client from the Claremont Institute in 2004.

In 2005, she was the single holdout on a property tax increase (headline: “Property Tax plan goes to Senate on 41-1 vote“, see: http://kummerkaempfer.org/04_News/communique/08_05_taxrelief_rowe.pdf). This bill split the property tax abatement by applying a 3% rate to residential and 8% rate to commercial property. The reason Sharron voted “no” was because the Nevada Constitution states that taxation must be uniform and equal and so could not vote against her oath of office to which she swore to "uphold and defend the Constitution".

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if political discourse could be based in reality, truth, policy, and ideas, instead of fabricated allegations, Sue Lowden?

Concerned Women for America Endorses Sharron Angle

Carson City, NV (LifeNews.com) -- Nevada is the envy of other states as it faces the kind of problem pro-life advocates rarely see: two pro-life women facing off for the same political post. Today, Concerned Women for America's political action committee endorsed Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine), but the Susan B. Anthony List is in Sue Lowden's corner.

(Life News, Sue Lowden IS NOT PRO-LIFE! I dropped my membership to SBA list because of this endorsement. As I’ve reported before in another post: She gave $8000 to Harry Reid over several election cycles and voted FOR abortion in 1990.

As Jon Ralston said in a 12/16/09 Las Vegas Sun article: “I can see the flip-flop ad in my mind’s eye, especially with the, ahem, abortion that was the 2008 state convention when she was chairman and her previous campaign contributions to Reid:

“’She was for abortion before she was against it…She was for Harry Reid before she was against him.’”

…and, “Lowden correctly states her actual voting record — she has never cast a vote in favor of abortion rights — except for that 1990 vote for the abortion rights referendum.” See: http://moveonreid.blogspot.com/2010/03/sba-list-candidate-fund-endorses-sue.html
)

“Concerned Women PAC endorses Sharron Angle because she stands resolutely on the issues, such as family values, protection of the unborn," Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women PAC, said. "Sharron provides the clearest contrast to liberal Harry Reid.”

"There was never any question that Sharron was the most experienced and proven conservative in the race,” Nance adds. “Now there are polls that show Sharron can win her Primary June 8th and beat Harry Reid in November (emphasis mine)."

Club for Growth Endorses Sharron Angle

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro:

“It looks like "Chicken-gate" may have come too early for Democrats.
The Club for Growth endorsed former state Rep. Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/, insertion mine) in the GOP Senate primary in Nevada.

The frontrunner has been former state Republican party chairwoman Sue Lowden. But her comments about bartering chickens as a form of health care have made Republicans think twice about her potential strength against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D), one of the most endangered incumbents left this cycle.

Lowden's lead has dropped in polling. A May 10-11 Mason-Dixon poll showed Lowden leading Angle and Danny Tarkanian 30%-25%-22%. But that is a big drop from a month earlier when the same poll showed Lowden leading Tarkanian and Angle, 45%-27%-5%.

“Sharron Angle is everything a pro-growth, limited-government, economic conservative can be, and everything Washington and the country need right now,” Club for Growth President Chris Chocola said in a statement. “She was the undisputed fiscal conservative leader in the Nevada State Assembly, and she has the courage and skill to step into the same role in the U.S. Senate (emphasis mine). Sharron Angle is the true economic conservative in the Nevada Senate race, a candid, common-sense leader with the courage to stand up against liberal big spenders in both parties. Sharron is Harry Reid’s worst nightmare, and Nevada’s best hope. Her courageous, honest style and principled leadership will do more good in six years in the Senate than Reid’s corrupt backroom deals and trillion-dollar boondoggles could in a lifetime (emphasis mine).”

Sharron Angle vs. Scientology

Desperate people say desperate things. Lowden and Tarkanian have dropped in the polls and they have both turned to the desperate attack – now accusing Sharron of being a scientologist.

The Second Chance Program was a success in New Mexico in 2007: "For the first time, we're actually diverting serious substance abusers from jails and prisons into a facility that gives them what they need to turn their lives around," says Westrum.

The trip she took was a privately funded, and took place on a non-legislative working day. She did not propose legislation.

Sharron Angle endorsed by Las Vegas Tribune, a true fiscal conservative, rising in polls

Sharron (http://www.sharronangle.com/) was endorsed by the Las Vegas Tribune over the weekend. Here are some excerpts:

“It is now official: we are endorsing Sharron Angle for the position of US Senate that is occupied today by Senator Harry Reid.

Sharron Angle is, in our opinion, the best choice for that position and we think that her impeccable record will be an asset to represent Nevada in the nation's capital as our next United States Senator for Nevada.

…Sharron Angle is the only candidate that had requested to sit with the newspaper that reaches the masses, the working people, the people that are in need of being heard by those who are going to represent the people of Nevada in the nation's capital.

…Our choice is made on merit and is done on the record created by Sharron Angle as a conservative assemblywoman for four terms. After meeting with Ms. Angle on three different occasions and listening to her speak, we believe she is the best choice.

We agree with Ms. Angle when she says, “Don't read my lips, read my record!” Her record is clean and she is honest.

She does not use double-talk; she does not hesitate when she is going to answer any question, and she does not change her opinion or her mind to please the crowd she is facing (emphasis mine).

We are proud to endorse Sharron Angle for the US Senate seat that has been occupied by Harry Reid for the last three decades.”

See: http://www.lasvegastribune.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=819:tribune-endorses-angle-for-us-senate&catid=124:local-news&Itemid=244

She’s rising in the polls, too:

“Longtime GOP frontrunner Sue Lowden and longtime runner-up Danny Tarkanian are suddenly foundering.A new poll shows Sue Lowden clinging to a 30% lead over Tea Party Republican Sharron Angle, who has surged to 25% while Danny Tarkanian has collapsed to 22%.”

…Even more importantly perhaps, Sharron Angle has not spent her money, relying heavily on a boots-on-the-ground campaign. Lowden and Tarkanian have spent $1,903,316 and $836,717 respectively while Angle has spent only $395,804.

As a result of her stinginess and reliance on her boots on the ground, Angle has a cash on hand advantage of $430,545 to less than $300,000 for her rivals.

So, she is poised to hit the airwaves to coincide with her surge.

A huge upset might be brewing in Nevada.”

Not might be brewing. IS BREWING.

See: http://www.americanprinciplesinaction.org/principles-blog.html

How’s that for fiscal conservatism? She quite literally walks the talk. “Boots-on-the-ground” means Sharron walks much of the state HERSELF, and most of her staff are volunteers. How do I know this? Because I helped her walk her district during one of her campaigns for Assemblywoman when I lived in Nevada. There is no substitute for passion.

Another Tea Party Group Endorses Sharron Angle: Western Representation PAC Endorses Angle for Senate

“Yet another group has announced it is backing Conservative Republican Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/) in her campaign for U.S. Senate to Defeat Harry Reid.

The Western Representation PAC, a conservative group that has been active in the Nevada tea party movement, announced today they are endorsing Sharron Angle for U.S. Senate in Nevada.

The group runs The Campaign to Defeat Harry Reid, which enjoys more than 11,000 supporters. They explained their endorsement of Sharron Angle in a release saying:

‘Over the last several months we have watched and interviewed every major candidate running to defeat Harry Reid in November's Nevada Senate election. We have looked hard at each candidate's current platform as well as their past record. We find things we like about other candidates but our search keeps leading us to the same name as the best candidate to represent the people of Nevada: Sharron Angle.’

…‘Many people had predicted the group would endorse Sue Lowden, and a recent candidate's forum put on by the Western Representation PAC was derided as a supposed fundraiser for Lowden. But the truth is the momentum in this race is clearly with the Conservative Republican challenger, Sharron Angle, and not with any of the establishment candidates in the race,‘ said Bryan Shroyer, Political Director for the Tea Party Express.”

See: http://newsblaze.com/story/20100511094443zzzz.nb/topstory.html

Right on, Western Representation PAC! Right on! You’ve got the right Angle!

This adds to Sharron’s 25+ list of CONSERVATIVE endorsers (see: http://www.sharronangle.com/endorsements.html), including Gun Owners of America, Our Country Deserves Better PAC, Minuteman PAC, Pat Boone, Mark Levin, Eagle Forum, Change the Congress in 2010, Nevada Concerned Citizens, etc., etc. etc.

BREAKING NEWS: Change the Congress in 2010 Federal PAC, Pat Boone Endorse Sharron Angle

Change the Congress in 2010 Federal PAC informed the Sharron Angle campaign (http://www.sharronangle.com/) today that they are withdrawing their support for Sue Lowden and instead endorsing Sharron Angle. (Susan B. Anthony List would be wise to do the same).

Adding to her growing list of endorsements, Pat Boone also gave his support today:

…Boone, a famous singer and actor, is also well known as a political writer and commentator willing to tackle the tough conservative issues that matter to America.

“I know a real conservative when I meet one,” said Boone when asked to talk about his endorsement for the former 4-term Republican lawmaker. “I was there helping Ronald Reagan when he ran for Governor in California, and I followed him all the way to the White House. Today, I’m getting behind another Reagan-conservative, this time from Nevada. Her name is Sharron Angle, and she is the proven consistent conservative in this race who can retire Harry Reid and send him back to Searchlight to pound sand.”

Boone said that Nevadans enjoy a prime opportunity during the June 8th Nevada primary to elect a bona fide conservative capable of defeating Reid, someone with the moral fiber and determination to clean up the messes in Washington, D.C.

“Nevada cannot afford to elect a Republican who is watered-down or unproven,” Boone emphasized. “Nevada has the opportunity to elect a real Republican who is battle-tested, someone we know who is capable and willing to stand up for what’s right for our country. Sharron Angle is that person; she has a rock-solid record that conservatives can trust. That is why I am proud to support Sharron Angle for United States Senate, and I ask you to stand with me and support Sharron Angle as well.”

Angle Spokesperson Jerry Stacy said the campaign was delighted to have Pat Boone join with others from a broad-base of more than twenty state and nation-wide conservative organizations and individualswho have chosen Angle over all other Republicans in the race, including Minutemen PAC, Gun Owners of America, Joe the Plumber, Nevada Concerned Citizens, Tea Party Express, Phyllis Schlafly, Nevada Republican Assembly, Citizens United, Veterans in Politics, radio host Mark Levin, and several more.

Minuteman PAC endorses Sharron Angle, Straw Poll Shows Her Ahead in GOP Primary

Minuteman PAC Honorary Chairman Chris Simcox, announced the PAC's full endorsement of Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/) to replace Sen. Harry Reid. Simcox declared, “In a race that pits conservative Sharron Angle against establishment moderates with egregious records and positions concerning national security and sovereignty, our endorsement for Angle is really a no-brainer.”

Minuteman PAC cited recent polls in the state showing growing support for Angle's tough stance against amnesty and illegal immigration. Simcox continued, “With GOP moderates serving as the johnny-come-lately candidates, we need a champion for border security who's stood the test of time even when it wasn't popular. Sharron Angle is that candidate for Nevada.” Minuteman PAC is an independent Political Action Committee of the Minuteman Movement, including the rapidly-growing Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC), formerly under the leadership of Chris Simcox. Sharron Angle has been endorsed by nearly twenty state and national conservative individuals and organizations including talk show host Mark Levin, the Tea Party Express, Gun Owners of America, Nevada Homeschool Network, Veterans in Politics and Phyllis Schlafly.

See: http://www.sharronangle.com/Endorsements/PR%204-27-10(MinutemanPAC).pdf

And, likely voters are starting to endorse her as well. A recent straw poll of likely voters in Nevada showed her ahead of the pack of GOP challengers:

U.S. Senate:
Angle 27.1%
Chachas 21.3%
Christensen 10.6%
Lowden 16.1%
Tarkanian 24.9%

Not Chicken for Checkups. Repeal for Obamacare.

Republican Senate candidate Sue Lowden on Tuesday defended her claim that a "chickens for checkups" barter system would be an effective alternative to the recently-passed health care reform bill.

…Lowden's campaign sent a letter to the Las Vegas Review-Journal Wednesday defending her stance and providing a testimonial of "Robin L. Titus, M.D." who claims that he has "bartered with patients -- for alfalfa hay, a bath tub, yard work and horse shoeing in exchange for my care." Her campaign has also been circulating an extensive background document explaining the perks of bargaining with your health care provider.

See: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/27/sue-lowden-backs-down-fro_n_554105.html

In a market driven system, bargaining with your healthcare provider should not be necessary, and would not become necessary if Obamacare had not been passed. Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/) has committed to repealing it. Lowden has not, and has avoided committing to repeal. When she was asked "Do you openly endorse a full repeal of Obamacare?" at the April 23rd GOP debate (televised in Nevada on KRNV), she said “realistically we cannot repeal unless we have a president who is willing to sign the repeal”.  Where's the fight in you, Lowden?  We can if we have a 2/3 majority...

Sharron Angle Endorsed by “Nevada Concerned Citizens” PAC

Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/) was endorsed today by “Nevada Concerned Citizens” PAC:

"RENO, NV-- Sharron Angle (R-NV), a former Nevada State Legislator who currently leads Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) by double-digits for the U.S. Senate seat in Nevada, continued receiving endorsements since returning home from Washington D.C., this time from Nevada Concern Citizens.

The press statement released by the Nevada Concern Citizens stated that Angle is “unmatched in the intensity of her conservative values” and that she has “a proven record as a fiscal and social conservative and a reputation for defending the Constitution.” The statement also noted that Angle was proactive with the Protection of Marriage Initiative, a ballot proposal that successfully amended Nevada’s Constitution to define marriage as being between a man and a woman.

The endorsement came on the heels of other recent endorsements including Gun Owners of America, Tea Party Express, conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin, Phyllis Schlafly of Eagle Forum PAC, and a growing list of others."

Nationally Syndicated Talk Show Host Mark Levin Endorses Sharron Angle

(Go to http://www.sharronangle.com/ and make your endorsement by contributing).

Quoting from the Angle Examiner (Sharron‘s Angle‘s campaign newspaper):

“Just a day after her Tea Party Express endorsement, Sharron Angle has been endorsed by the nationally syndicated Mark Levin Radio Show Host!.

Mark Levin is one of America's preeminent conservative commentators and constitutional lawyers, and has become one of the hottest properties in Talk radio. He is also a top author in the conservative political arena.

Both Mark and Sharron are fierce defenders of the Constitution and both have won Ronald Reagan awards. Mark won the Ronald Reagan award in 2001 from the American Conservative Union and Sharron Angle was awarded the Ronald Reagan Freedom Medallion in 2003 from the Claremont Institute for defending our State Constitution's 2/3 vote requirement to raise taxes.

See: http://marklevinshow.com/Article.asp?id=1773772&spid=32364

Details of the endorsement will follow shortly.”

Well, “Fox and Friends“, do you still want to ask her if she will drop out? She’s been endorsed by the Gun Owners of America, The Tea Party Express, and Mark Levin in the last three days alone. Her other endorsements include: Phyllis Schlafly, Citizens United (the same people who brought suit in the McCain Feingold Finance Reform case, and won a victory for free speech), GING PAC, Life and Liberty PAC, Declaration Alliance PAC, Republican Majority Campaign PAC, Nevada Home School Network, and Family PAC Federal.

My dear “Fox and Friends”, the other two candidates, including your beloved Sue Lowden, are NOT conservatives. They are RINOs, through and through. Lowden gave $8000 to Harry Reid over several election cycles, as well as substantial contributions to other democrats. She voted for abortion in 1990. In 1996 she claimed the national Republican Party should drop abortion from its platform. She isn’t sure she wouldn’t have voted for bailouts. As a state senator, she voted on numerous occasions for tax increases. The other candidate, Danny Tarkanian, donated to Nevada democrat Shelley Berkley and has no legislative experience. He was also once apparently endorsed by the Brady campaign.

Maybe you should ask Sue Lowden or Danny Tarkanian if they are going to drop out?

Tea Party Express Endorses Sharron Angle to replace Harry Reid!

Game Changer? YOU BET! Go to http://www.sharronangle.com/ and help change the game.

You can hear Sharron Angle tomorrow night (Friday, April 16th) on the Mark Levin show.

See: http://www.ktnv.com/Global/story.asp?S=12316941 for the story. Full text is below:

“The Tea Party Express has endorsed former State Assemblywoman Sharron Angle in the campaign for U.S. Senate against incumbent Senator Harry Reid.

Angle, a four-term Assemblywoman, is the author of Nevada's Property Tax Reform Initiative, and lost a race for Congress in 2006 by less than a half percent. She has attended 16 tea parties, and raised $1 million in her race for Senate.

A Tea Party spokesperson says she's the strongest candidate to defeat Harry Reid.

He said she offers the clearest contrast to Reid's tax-spend-bailout policies.”

I wonder what the fake “Tea Party candidate” has to say about that?? I guess not much, since he will be in jail soon for felony theft and bad check writing.

Below is a video of Sharron Angle at a recent Tea Party in Harry Reid’s home town: Searchlight, NV. Sharron was an attendee of and speaker at Tea Parties from the very beginning.

Gun Owners of America Endorses Sharron Angle; NRA will endorse Harry Reid?!?!?

On April 14, the conservative PAC “Gun Owners of America” endorsed Sharron Angle (http://www.sharronangle.com/). See http://www.goapvf.org/index.php/GOA-PVF-2010-Favorites/sharron-angle-for-senate.htm for the press release.

Quoting from the release:

“Sharron Angle is just the kind of “change” Washington needs right now. Over her eight years in the Nevada legislature, Sharron stood 100% in favor of the Second Amendment (emphasis mine) and was a steadfast leader in protecting the constitutional liberties of all Nevadans.”

Conversely, the NRA will probably endorse Harry Reid?!!?!?…because, as they state, “the NRA is a single issue organization and that when our ratings and endorsements are announced, they are based solely on a candidate’s support for, or opposition to, our Second Amendment rights” (see: http://crazypolitics4u.blogspot.com/2010/04/what-is-nevada-senator-harry-reids.html).

Is Harry Reid really Second Amendment-friendly?

Again quoting from the GOA press release:

“Harry Reid, on the other hand, is trampling all over the Constitution. In addition to pushing the massive, anti-gun Obamacare bill through the Senate, Reid has helped to secure the confirmations of President Obama’s left-wing radical nominees to the highest positions of power (emphasis mine).

For instance, Sen. Reid voted to confirm Eric Holder to the position of Attorney General. Holder was the point man for gun control initiatives such as the Brady bill and the semi-auto ban under President Clinton.

Almost immediately after his confirmation, Holder called for the reinstatement of the Clinton gun ban. Holder also coauthored an amicus brief to the Supreme Court arguing in favor of the complete gun ban in the District of Columbia.

Sen. Reid secured the confirmation of Cass Sunstein as the new “regulatory czar,” despite the fact that Sunstein stated that he believes hunting should be banned.

The top legal advisor at the State Department, Harold Koh, also received Reid’s support. Koh advocates bringing the U.S. into conformity with a draconian global gun control agenda.

And the newest Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor, could not have advanced if Sen. Reid had objected. Indeed, Sen. Reid voted for this anti-gun radical, who had ruled as an Appeals Court judge that a complete gun ban by a state would be constitutional.

As Majority Leader, Reid could have objected to any and all of these nominees and insisted that the president put forth men and women who respected the Second Amendment.

…In a head-to-head match up with Reid, Sharron Angle leads 51% to 40% (emphasis mine), according to a recent Rasmussen poll. This race is winnable, but Sharron needs our help…So please, go to http://www.sharronangle.com today to contribute and to learn more about this campaign.”

Also, a reminder that Sharron Angle will be on the Mark Levin show this Friday, the 16th, the day after the Tax Day Tea Parties. Sharron is a regular attender and speaker at Tea Parties. Here she is at the Searchlight, NV Tea Party:

Sharron Angle at Tea Party in Searchlight, NV

Check out biker chick and conservative Senate candidate Sharron Angle in Searchlight, Nevada, along with thousands (no, not "dozens", CNN) of like-minded citizens at the Searchlight Tea Party. Sharron was part of the Tea Party movement before it was fashionable, unlike Danny Tarkanian and Sue Lowden. Sharron will be on the Mark Levin show the day after the Tax Day Tea Party - on April 16. Check her out (http://www.sharronangle.com/). She is the only real conservative with legislative experience running in the race.

SBA List Candidate Fund Endorses Sue Lowden for U.S. Senate?

Apparently they care more about political expediency than about supporting pro-life candidates.

Quote from Dannenfelser: 'Sue Lowden combines everything we are looking for: an articulate female spokesman with the courage to back it up with advocacy for the unborn and their mothers' (See: http://www.christiannewswire.com/news/2182513485.html)

SBA List, What in the world are you thinking??

As I’ve reported before, Sue Lowden is NOT A CONSERVATIVE. She gave $8000 to Harry Reid over several election cycles and voted FOR abortion in 1990.

…and, “Lowden correctly states her actual voting record — she has never cast a vote in favor of abortion rights — except for that 1990 vote for the abortion rights referendum.”

Why Sue Lowden and Danny Tarkanian are NOT conservatives (but Sharron Angle is)

Sue Lowden:

- said she supported Reid in the past, when he was a “blue dog Democrat”; indeed she donated $8000 to his campaign in several election cycles, but now says he has moved too far to the left

-said she “isn't feeling pressure to hew to the political right”

-voted for abortion in the 1990’s, but now says she is pro-life

-isn’t sure she would have voted against bail-out spending

-appears to be involved in possible insider trading with Archon Corporation (see: http://www.webcommentary.com/php/ShowArticle.php?id=andersonm&date=100123)

As Jon Ralston said in a 12/16/09 Las Vegas Sun article: “I can see the flip-flop ad in my mind’s eye, especially with the, ahem, abortion that was the 2008 state convention when she was chairman and her previous campaign contributions to Reid: “She was for abortion before she was against it…She was for Harry Reid before she was against him.

Danny Tarkanian:

-was endorsed by the Brady campaign in 2006- and supported the passage of a Federal Assault weapons ban, but now claims to support gun rights

-donated $950 to Democrat Shelley Berkley in 1998

Why Sharron Angle is a better choice:

Lowden has only one term as a state senator and Tarkanian has no experience. Sharron has 8 years experience as a Nevada Assemblywoman and is solid on all conservative issues. Her voting record declares it boldly. At one point, she was the ONLY holdout against a tax increase. It’s one thing to support an unknown candidate who talks the conservative talk but is untested when there are no other alternatives. It is quite another when there IS an excellent candidate available who has proven herself as a liberty-loving, tax-loathing statesman - not a politically expedient politician - in the fires of legislative combat. As Sharron likes to say, “Don’t read my lips; read my record.”

Sharron’s History:

Sharron is a 4-term Assemblywoman. Her amazing campaign ability first came to light after the 2000 census when she was an Assemblywoman representing west Reno. Democrats played dirty politics and re-drew the district lines, forcing her to run against the popular incumbent Assemblyman Greg Brower. She personally visited every home in her new district at least three times, and as a result defeated him.

In 2006 she left the assembly to run for Congress against Secretary of State Dean Heller and first lady Dawn Gibbons, both of whom had statewide name identification. In a race that covered all 17 Nevada counties, Heller edged Angle by less than 1 percent of the votes cast, while Gibbons ran a distant third.

In 2008 she took on incumbent State Sen. Bill Raggio, who had been a Nevada Senator since 1972 and was the most powerful Republican in Nevada. Sharron raised about $50,000 for the race while Raggio raised and spent $513,000.

When the results came in Raggio edged Sharron by a bare 500 votes.

About Me

I am a citizen journalist, wife to Bill, and Mommy to Charlotte and Cheyenne. I work at a chemical company writing Material Safety Data Sheets and own a small business on the side. I started this blog to "sound the alarm" on what is happening in this country with respect to the assault on our freedoms, and because I was called to do it: Ezekiel 33:1-5: "The word of the LORD came to me: 'Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: 'When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head. Since he heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had taken warning, he would have saved himself. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.'"
